Forum layout question - for the mods?

Jonathan_Brady Dec 21, 2008 07:05 PM

Can anyone tell me why the layout of the forum switches when you post a new thread, or reply to an existing thread?
To illustrate my point, here is a screen capture before pressing the "post a new message" button:

Above, the first reply to Nick's engagement announcement is from Matt, as Matt was the first to reply.
And here's a screen capture after pressing the post new message button for this thread:

You can see that the order of the replies changed and it shows Kevin is the first reply, even though his reply (according to how my preferences are set) should be at the bottom because it's the most recent.

You can see it in the other threads too.

Can anyone explain this to me? Perhaps tell me how to fix it? It drives me absolutely NUTTY!!! Mods, maybe it's a software glitch?? Does this only happen to me because I'm the only one who cares enough to get annoyed with it? I frequently close the window and open a new one it drives me so crazy. Yeah... I'm weird like that

Huh - that doesn't happen to me - but what does happen is prior to replying to a thread, I'll be in the "non-threaded" viewing, but after replying, it swithches to "threaded" viewing. It's a little bothersome .

However my preferences are set. My threads do not appear to do that reversal as yours appears to be doing.
My threads stay constant like the first snip pic mostly.Sometimes I notice certain replies appear to get pushed out of order though.
So a reply could be made on the Dec 21st and appear as though it were made after a reply made on the Dec 22nd for instance.
This tends to confuse me sometimes.
I'm easily confused though,LOL

I'm not an expert on this end of the mechanics but I think it is your settings. It doesn't happen to me. Here is a shot of my settings.
