CAVIAT EMPTOR : Monkey Skink Purchases

Just a reminder: One has to be careful ordering on line-visual sight unseen.

There is an ad running right now in the classifieds using a picture to represent advertised Corucia. This picture was pulled off one of the search engines and has is quite old. I know this for a fact because I personally used it for a desktop picture almost a year ago. If this picture is intended to represent Corucia being sold, It could be a sad situation if the purchaser recieves a Corucia of much poorer quality. BE CAREFUL!

We Skink Forumers need to stick together and help each other where possible. To that end, I hope this was of value to you out there.

Sincerely,
Brian

Brian,

I think I know which ad your referring to. I've seen that picture as well.

Not that I'm hitting on you, but what is your age and background?
How long have you been dealing with herps and how long has the SFCRC been in existence?

Thanks for your posts.

Best regards,
Jean

Hi Jean,

I'm 44 and have been involved with herps since 1964. I am a Licensed, Board certified Optician and Geologist/Paleontologist-Invertebrate and Vertebrate with 2 degrees. I was a Collections Manager of Invertebrate Paleontology at the now-defunct Graves museum. My field of interest in Invertebrate paleontology is Lucustrine Gastropods of the Plio-Pleistocene in South Central Florida. As a Vertebrate Paleontologist, my interest is in extinct members of the Scincidae.

The SFCRC was founded in 1999. There are 2 main locations and 1 satellite one.

Sincerely,
Brian

Which is the misprint, that your 44 or have been involved in herps since 1964?

It may not be a misprint. I expect Brian, like many of us, became interested in lizards as a child.

That could be, I just assumed it was a miss print. I guess it depends on your definition of involved. I collected a bucket of toads in 1956 when I was three and dumped them on my sleeping mother. I guess you could consider that being involved in herps. I've been involved a lot longer than I thought.LOL

Yes, I'd say that's involved! More Like your mother was involved with you after the fact. How did the story end? What did she do?

What could you do to a cute little three year old toe head boy that grins at you and says "mommy look what I got" as he dumps out the bucket of frogs? She was some kind of upset for a short time! But she never punished me for it. It was one of her favorite stories up until the day she went to be with the Lord.

The Information is correct, I collected and studied Lizards and Turtles at age 5. I captive bred Carolina Anoles at that time.

Are you refering to the one with the photo of two PTS in/on a cork round? There is also someone selling 1 month old PTS babies from WC parents with three photos :P Grrrr
On a happy note- here is my version of a cute 2 PTS cork bark picture from my house earlier this year.

And a Good Morning to you, Jess. Actually, it would still be good evening out your way.

Yes, it was the cork round picture.

Your 2 Corucia are beautiful. Nice shot in the cork.
