Tiny eggs

nycmedic Dec 22, 2008 11:36 AM

I have a clutch of a dozen eggs incubating at a steady 83deg. for about 60 days now. They should be hatching real soon. The concern I have is that some of the eggs are considerably smaller than the others. They are as healthy looking as the larger ones but just ALOT smaller. Are they probably not going to hatch? Has anyone else seen this with thier clutches. Its hard to imaginr such a small beardie in there. This is my first Lizard clutch. I have never seen this with my snake egg clutches.

when i had my last clutch i had one tiny egg along with 21 other eggs that were all larger and fertile...the tiny one wound up being infertile (i candled it to see) so it may be the case with yours...then again it might not be

You have to wait and see. I've had big eggs from a female , little eggs from other females and a mixture. If they still look good after 60 days then they are fertile. A really small egg may fail but at 60 days you'll just have to wait and see. Of course I can't see just how little the eggs are you're talking about. But, there is a great size difference between successful eggs from different pairings.
