runny pooh some loss of appetite???Thanks to those who reply

joeyjoh May 24, 2003 09:55 AM

my BTS is not eating very much or often, but there seems to be little change in activity, and there is really no weight loss. his pooh is runny. my question is shouold I go ahead and get a fecal or do you think he is just not wanting to eat. he is wild caught. "lied to by dealer" suppose to be captive. I was wondering if he might not be eating because it should be his cooling period. One more factor we just moved so he might still be a little stressed out still. any and all sugestions appreciated.
Thanks Joey

I'd definately get a fecal. And just because he's CB doesn't mean he can't have some internal nasties. My bearded dragon is, of course, captive bred, and after having him 2 years I found out he has three different protozoan parasites. Yuck.

I just went through this with my male BTS. It was a surprise to find out he did have an overload of Flagylates (worms), seeings how he is also captive bred, and kept from other animals. But I am very glad to have spent the money for the vet and get him back on track. If you are going to keep animals you must be prepared to take care of them, which includes the financial aspect. It's also good to get a professionals opinion on your animal and how you are keeping him.
Hope everything turns out well for you!
Beth
