BT Cribo Temperature?

JSI11 Dec 23, 2008 07:50 PM

I've noticed my BT cribo has a real hatred of warmth. I'd appreciate others observations on this. Seems only room temperature with a slightly warm spot is preferred. 70F background with a basking spot of 75F. Anything above that and she seems to be over active and I'm considered about (rostal)nose rubbing.

My concern here is the obvious notion that lack of heat could causing problems. Some say they need a basking spot in the mid 80s but she is franticly moving about the cage with a basking spot of 80F

excellent observation, most drys do not like heat & can actually be kept quite comfortably at room temperature. on the forest floor where they live in the wild, temps rarely exceed 75*. the areas bt's & uni's originate [coastal central america], the actual air temp isn't much higher year round. i do have lamps on my dry cages but they are for coldest days & rarely used.

Thank you very much Mr.Felice.

Also very nice D.m.melanurus.
It does take some getting used to, the notion that such a large active snake from tropical climates is comfortable with only minor supplementary heating. But yesterday I did lower the temperature by a few degrees in the basking site and she seems much more relaxed.
