Striped Cali King

Crash1265 Dec 23, 2008 10:34 PM

Just out of curiosity in these which are more desirable, ones with an unbroken/near unbroken stripe or one with broken stripe? I picked one up the other day that has a single dot on the head and the rest of the stripe is solid all the way to the tip of it's tale but most I have seen have several breaks in the stripe.

As the old saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Whatever you prefer is more desireable. I happen to prefer ones without a broken stripe, but that's just me.

Sounds like you got a beauty.

What you said is true and I think it is just great. Really need to get it sexed....hate referring to it as "it". Just in looking at the pictures I found it seemed most had the broken stripes so I was surprised when I got it that it had an almost solid stripe.

That's a beautiful snake! I like the broken stripe near the tail.

Just`a thought...
How do you get the aberrant stripes? I hope to breed some of those in the future, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I don't know the history of my banded female.

I guess it depends on what the genetics of your snakes are but I used to have a banded female that I bred to a banded, slightly abberant male and I got perfect bandeds, perfect stripes and abberant animals out of the same clutch. I think you can produce a lot of different things with cali kings. What is your male, striped?
