Yellow Belly Combos

ROC Dec 24, 2008 11:41 AM

I was curious about any designer morphs created with yellowbelly. I know there's the superstripe, but does yellowbelly crossed with anything else produce unique offspring. Thanks in advance.

Many crosses have been done, but I think the most interesting ones are ebony (yellowbelly x granite), fire yellowbelly, ivory and superstripe.

joshhutto Dec 24, 2008 01:09 PM

to date nobody, not even amir has been able to reproduce the ebony from yb x granite.

yb combos so far that I can think of:

x phantom
x super phantom
x lesser/butter
x pastel
x super pastel
x ghost
x albino
x pastel albino
x fire
x vanilla
x spider
x bumblebee
x granite (there are genetic granite/yb crosses out there)
x black pastel/cinny
x woma
x pastel yb (pastel ivory)
x whirlwind/specter (superstripe)
pastel yb x whirlwind/specter (pastel superstripe)
x mojave

I'm sure there are others but that's what is comming to me off the top of my head. There are rumors that it is also a gene in several of the mystery combo's out there produced by NERD and BHB over the last couple years. Also with breeding season well on it's way, I'm sure the number of tripple and quad combos to multiply big time (unfortunately not by me, lol).

Josh -- Interesting that you should mention that you think it might be the Y.B. as the "extra gene". Kevin leads us to believe that it is gene within the Woma -- not an independent morph. I am not sure he has come out and flat said as much. Maybe he has?

I too suspect that the Soul Sucker has an independent, established gene, in it NOT connected to ANY Woma -- not the Y.B.. And, until someone other than Kevin makes a Soul Sucker and posts the pairing and the results -- I will continue to look at the Woma hidden gene animals with not a little suspicion. Soul Sucker...SUPER SWEET MORPH.

Bill,
you're likely correct in all that you say. But maybe josh is referring to the yellowbelly gene being present in Nerds Inferno and Enchi Inferno, etc. I think i read something to that effect in a classified ad that nerd had up.

joshhutto Dec 24, 2008 10:02 PM

that is what I was referring to, not the soulsucker. But I think I know what the soul sucker is (super stripe woma crystal lesser,) There i figured it out, now someone that has the genes make one so i can see if i'm right, lol.

Yep Josh, can't believe you put that up there. But I think you are on the right track , I am not sure YB is necessary in the Soul Sucker but the other genes would for sure be a logical possibility, I agree. Time will tell , I'm thankful I have easy access to the genes your refering to as I've been thinking along those same lines for some time now .

As I said earlier, I was totally joking. I think there is more to it than what I mentioned.

There is actually LESS Josh. In my opinion, your post is right on minus the 2 genes in the Super Stripe. 3 genes -- and 3 genes only. No hidden gene. Just a regular Woma. Still a difficult combo to make, because VERY FEW breeders have Crystals in there collections -- maybe 7 or 8 tops -- and you would have to have the Woma AND Lesser in somewhere in the breeding. Even if I am wrong about Soul Sucker ingredients , you would still get a SWEET morph -- maybe better than the Soul Sucker!!!!
