Nutrition

I was looking at the nutrition chart that Rodent Pro has available.
http://www.rodentpro.com/qpage_articles_03.asp
I was looking at chicks vs. rat pups.
It seems to me (but I don't completely know of the BP's dietary needs) that the chicks would be a better choice.

Given this information, what is everyone else's opinion about it?

Thanks!

What one needs to remember is that animals only need certain levels of nutrients and the rest is just waste -- more does not necessarily better. Snakes only use about 1/3 of the nutrients found in most feeders.

Plus if you've ever fed fowl to your snakes you'd know that it makes their poop really disgustingly foul.

don't remember the facts...

chicks are alot of water..the balls m8ght do ok on some chicks, but stuff like colubrids will defecate alot more and it smells worse then with rodents...so they aren't the nicest choice

...hawk people even told me they don't like using all chicks, they said they weren't as good nutritionally...(they never read the rodentpro list either ,,,LOL)....but the feeling was chicks were not as good as mice or rats...

....use mice,rats,chicks ???....all three....it works...

Chicks and birds in general are a poor source of calcium. Their bones are hollow to reduce weight. They are OK to feed occasionally but shouldn't be the sole food item. JP
