Tri Stripe Vs. Black Striped

exoticball Dec 26, 2008 10:36 PM

I just got a copy of VPI's book today and I and was flipping through the pages when I noticed the picture of the Black Stripe ball and I was wondering what makes the Tri Stripe different, or is it the same snake? From looking at the picture that TSK last posted and the picture in the book I think it is even the same animal. Is it just that TSK hadn't proven it genetic yet and have now named it Tri Stripe since it is genetic?

Although I cannot comment on the Tri Stripe as far as mutations go (I can say that I quite like them). I can say that I've always been a big fan of the Black Stripes.

Here are some pictures of the Black Stripes I've been working with. I produced my first batch in 2001. I've determined that my line is dominant with no super. I'm now concentrating on producing black stripe crosses.

I would call those Black Backs. They dont look anything like the Tri Stripes.

I like your black stripes....the amount of "alien heads" seems random. Have you noticed that, or does it seem to be inherited (either way: more or less) depending on the parents?

I believe Black Striped is the original name that TSK put to the original Tri Stripe.
This year when they Proved it they came out with the Tri Stripe name, which they actually took few they to come out with it.
If you look at their (TSK) page, even right now you'll see the same animal under the Black Stripe name; They took 6 year to prove it reccesive and they finally got the babies, I believe 3.
This is what I remember about the Black Stripe AKA Tri Stripe.
Maybe Dan or Colette can correct me if I am wrong.

We called it a black stripe at first to set it apart as something we were working with but after we proved it out we called it the Tri Stripe. The name will be fixed soon on the website.
