Well, it's not an impaction

He was just getting worse and more and more dehydrated. It seemed like kidneys were involved, so I had the snake euthanized. The vet did a necropsy to double check for crypto, and it turned out to be a huge, ginormous tumor attached to the kidneys with cysts and abscesses. No fecal matter to be found.

Now I guess I'll have to find a new favorite corn snake.

Aww. I`m sorry for your loss. It is very hard to make the decision to have a pet of any kind euthanized. I am sure in this case it was for the best. My condolences.

So sorry to hear that. I know what its like to be seriously attached to a herp. You did what you could. no one to blame, it's part of life. That does not help with the hurt, but you should know inside you cared for him the best you could.

Again, I am sorry for the loss.

It was good that you did the necropsy, though. At least you know for sure what happened.
Sorry for your loss

Yes, I'm glad for the necropsy, too...courtesy of the vet. He really wanted to do it as a learning experience for himself and his staff. He's also sending off a biopsy with some of his other research stuff. I hope he collects some good info to share with his colleagues.

thanks for the thoughts everyone.
