Almost a Lock. . . kinda, Any opinions?

Helena1 Dec 27, 2008 07:57 PM

Well, i was looking in the tank with the male in today (as far as adults go, I have 1.2) and after maybe an hour or two, I saw a tail getting in on the other one while the other tail was just sitting doing not much at all. All of the sudden, I tracked the excited tail (they are both darker normals) and found that the excited tail had, in fact belong to my "female".

I did see her get probed as a female, it could still be wrong. I had also noticed with this girl that her tail was huge and long and robust as opposed to my known female tail. I don't currently have my probe set so I can't tell myself.

So the tail that is pushing itself against the lazy tail is supposed to be the female. Normally I would just say, well, maybe she is horny to the point that she will make the first move, but it's the size of the tail in this snake as compared to my other girl.

This girls tail looks (as far as length and width) looks really really close to my known adult male.

I have never known a female to be the aggresser in breeding Boas, so I believe that you have a mis-identified male. Especially if the tail is larger as you described.

That is exactly what I was thinking. I have him/her in with my female now. i just placed him so nothing yet, but if he was happy to breed last night with, what I know to be a male, than I'm sure he will find this girl even more than pleasing.

I gotta say, though, if this is honestly a male and not a freak of nature female, this is one huge make, I mean 6 feet. I know thats not unheard of, though.

I kinda misunderstood your first post - I thought that two females were together. I haven't seen two males courting each other unless a female was present and they were just getting entwined. It sounds like you have an identity crisis, lol. Hopefully this year will help to figure it all out.

Yeah, those "breeding" photos are of two males. Since then i have put a female in with him and he has been all over her. He makes her look tiny! He's almost smothering her.

I really need a probe set. Now I'm interested in even checking my other "male"

I know this isn't really a lock here but, this is what was happening an hour after I put my actual girl in there. They are still going at it now.

I guess I have a Bisexual male Boa! Not easy to come by. I have heard of male sand boas going at each other if there are no females. A few of them were doing it at Tinley this year.

Again, i know it isn't quite a lock, but they're are going in the right direction.
