just wondering about wild leos

trex8692 Dec 27, 2008 10:17 PM

ive heard that some people document leos in the wild to be very sociable animals which enjoy living in groups of 10 or more. they often share burrows and hides.

^ is that even true?

i know that i probably will never house more than 1 leo together as i only have 1.. hehe

but anyways if that above statement holds true, why do people stress about single-housing pet techniques?

----

but then again maybe theyre just sharing burrows because of lack of space...

aggh watever, anybody have any outtakes and inputs?

Well, my take on it would be that if you put them in the same cage together, they have nowhere else to go, whereas in the wild, if one leo doesn't like the others/is being dominated by them, it could move out of the shared burrow and find somewhere else to be. Another thought would be that if one is smaller/weaker/whatever in the wild, it would be less likely to survive to adulthood anyway, thus not even being in a situation where dominance/stress is relevant anyway.

Don't ever get a wild caught leo. Wild caught leo's, know what it is like to live in the wild, and what it feels like.

I would only buy a captive born leo., because they have never known what it is like to be wild born, and in my opinion, not know what it is like to live in the wild.
