Avoiding heat

snakemother Dec 28, 2008 12:27 PM

I have a young pastel ball python that has started avoiding the heated side of his enclosure (91F) in favor of the 70F side. My other ball pythons do not do this. Is this just his unique way of telling me he's gonna to go off feed this winter? He did go off feed last winter, but he didn't avoid his heated hide. I'm just worried he'll get sick.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

My snakes do it, not sure what causes it though, the last time it happened it was with my spider and i fed him two mice and then he went back into the hide. Anyone else know why they do this? I think it's just the joy of owning a reptile and being scared something is going wrong! Esp if it's your first couple of animals.
