Bruising??

mbleek448 Dec 28, 2008 01:06 PM

I was finally able to get my sunglow to a vet on Friday, for his RI. The vet gave him a shot on Bytril. Well today I am suppost to give him a second dose, but I noticed a bruise. Is this common sense he is a albino?? The vet didn't go that deep. Thanks for the info. Marshall

I have to say it surprises me that the vet didn't get deep into the muscle tissue with the injection. An optimal injection of Baytril should be in good muscle tissue from my experience as well as my vets urging. I believe Baytril can cause a sore or necrosis if not injected properly (deep enough). I'd make sure you get a good deep muscle injection. In addition I always like to massage the injection site firmly with the cotton after injection.(The cotton soaked with alcohol used to sterilize injection site). I believe this helps work Antibiotic out of that muscle tissue to help it get started on its way.
Is your vet experienced with reptiles ?
