Great pics. I really like the black background to contrast the color of the snake.

nah different snakes. They are from a 2.5 group i bought, the crescents vary from splattered (guess dave would call a blush) to pretty close to a version of a pearl.
Sorry they not all labelled, but im still going thru all the pictures, trying to get the website up. But basically they all either from the pearl/blush group (you can see these, they all look roughly the same) or are het or poss het anery or hypo.

enjoy.....

here a couple more for you

by the way, the girlfriend isnt into snakes at all, but does take interest in the fact they keep me happy. She said she gonna get the 2nd and 3rd picture blown up and framed for the snake room. They surely the 2 best pictures that came out.

hey dave,
well i didnt take the pictures, but i photographer that drinks at my bar did. Got a good arrangement going though, he takes pictures i get him drunk. Works for both of us. Also he is interested in using a snake with a model, and well there wouldnt be many other places he could find one here!!

we used a large sheet of like this black plastic cardboard kinda thingy (bought from a photography shop. We had an overhead light, and then another large light, which worked as a flash linked to his camera. He has also cleaned up the photos with photoshop. Ive seen the originals, and he has definetely enhanced the colour on the pictures. I feel on some it is too enhanced, but when looking at all the pictures together, i feel by doing this with the colour, you can really see the difference between individual snakes. For instance the yellow one, looks very washed out in his originals, but when he is in your hand, he is yellow as anything. Guess its a good medium. I think next time, we will try it with the white background. Also i think it will be much easier in the summer. The middle of december in finland, and well it doesnt really get light at all, i think we could make some good improvements with proper natural light. plus side, july in finland, doesnt ever get dark!!

for a first attempt at taking some professional pictures, i think we did pretty well though (the photographer, had never even touched a snake before, and was slighty edgy about the whole experience The pictures were taken, for the website im currently making, was hoping to have it up by now, probably looking mid jan now.

speaking of yellow snakes, do you have any recent pictures of Ol Yeller?

Sadly Ol Yeller passed away a few months after returning to his owner.

ah so sorry to hear about that. Do you still have any pictures from him though, that show his true yellow colours, really want to compare to what i have. At least you have let his legend keep on.

yeah i think the black worked well, next time i want to try with white, and also with a mirror underneath with a black background behind. As i said though, the pics look much better after photoshopped , but it was the only way to try and bring out the true look of the snakes. He also had a kick arse camera and all the lighting. Im trying to find a picture of the setup, as im sure he took one. But in 600 photos cant seem to find

i dont know what the english word (only the finnish) is for what i bought, other than like a photographic cardboard plastic thing. Cost me about 40 US for a 100x140cm sheet.
