A couple new alternas

FR Dec 30, 2008 10:09 AM

I have been wanting to get a few alternas for sometime now. I have not had them in years.

I caught my first of many alternas in 1971. I do understand what kind of task that is.

So I feel very lucky to have these two.

My partner is also loading me an adult pair, one Lite Blairs and a lite alterna male. So I may be having some babies i can feed pinks too. hahahahahahahahahaha Cheers

A very simple task in some places, and nearly impossible in others. You should see this Ranch Todd and I got access to in Brewster - juicy!

very nice. Are they for business (observations...) or pleasure? I'd like to see how you set these puppies up either way.

Those are beautiful. The 2nd looks like the Sweetman redbluff line. The anterior speckling on the first one is unique on such a clean light phase alterna. Do you know the HX on it?

Hey coach,

I was thinking that one was Adam's R/B line as well...

Hope all is well and hope to see you soon!

These two are suppose to be "river road" alternas. But as mentioned I do have some field experience and these both have characters from both the bend and the edwards plateau. But hey, captivity does do wierd things to wild bloodlines.

What do you think? Cheers

Is that the phase you prefer? Beautiful snakes for sure!

I was the first to produce all speckled alternas and striped blairs. Way back when.
So I have a soft spot for speckled necked alternas I found one on Juno Rd. in 72, which I believe is rare from there.

Also back in 73, we found a Juno Rd. lite Alterna without alternating marks. So I have a soft spot for those as well.

So for alterna phase, I really like these. But there are a number of alternas I have seen in the field that I LOVE.

Also, I love really nice low count wide banded Blairs. I also love, jet black bright red banded blairs and alternas. The totally black alternas with bright orange splits we found in the Christmas mts. I did find a totally jet black blairs with red bands south of comstock while field collecting. That story is very funny. It should have been filmed. Cheers
