confused!!! what do we feed him/her?

velcro Sep 09, 2003 12:30 PM

We still don't know the sex of our 4 month old beardie, so for the sake of this posting, I will call it a "him"...

My question is this...He just graduated from tiny crickets to a little bit bigger. He only ate 2 yesterday and he just isn't eating his greens. He gets kale, squash, peas, endive, beans, etc...

I have some friends telling me to give him meal worms and silk worms but want to make sure they are safe for him to eat. He is still small in comparison to the other pics of 4 month olds I see on Kingsnake.

His basking spot is roughly 103-108 degrees, his cool side is 75-80 degrees. He is hydrated 2 times a day and has regular bowel movements. We moved him to a 40 gallon breeder 2 weeks ago and he loves it.

How can we get this little guy to grow? Any ideas?

Silk worms are GREAT!

You could also treat him to a few wax worms every now and then (VERY high in fat so use just as a treat)

As to the greens....... Have you tried adding small pieces of something very colorful mixed in?

We have tried carrots and yellow squash. Velcro seems to be very picky.

Can you buy silk worms at pet stores, or only on the web?

That depends on the store.... We have pretty "crappy" stores around my area and non of them sell silkies. Call around and ask your local stores, if not then your going to have to order via the web.

Good luck to you and try something nice and bright RED in his food dish ... chop it up real small and mix it in so he can see a few pieces of it
