Q about veilds and egg laying........

hi, I have some q's that i hope you can answer...one of them is the following. How long does it take for a gravid female to lay eggs? Antother one is about the egg laying container substrate. what is the best to use? i have potting soil, but it has some white pearly things in them, but besides that, nothing chemical. and one last thing........how long can i leave the eggs in the egg laying container?
