spot or flood?

What type of bulb do you guys prefer to use for the basking area,a spot bulb ,or a flood bulb? thanks Bob

Hi,

This depends on the size of the animals. their bodies have to totally fit in the beam of light. So with young or dwarf monitors you can use spots, but with normal monitors you need floods and with really large animals you need multiple floods to create a beam big enough for the entire body to fit in. If you only light a part of their body you will get burns, if they heat the entire animal they won't burn themselves, not even with 150 F.

Flood bulbs, all the way. You want a larger basking area, not a smaller one.
