I use Sow Cubes similar to rodent ovals
and major breeders use them. though mouse production is under parr, rats are going strong on it.
I have started occational dog food treat for protein lift

Well, I've never used anything for my rats expect Mazuri 6F because...GASP!! Mazuri was MADE for rats!! not hogs, not dogs, not alpacas, not elephants. Rat food is specifically formulated for breeding rats, which is why ANY rat food is better than any cheap-a$$ cutting corners junky substitute that all of these corner cutting wanna-be rat breeders feed their gross rats.
I want my snakes to eat the best food they can, and that requires feeding THEIR food the proper stuff. That's what seperates the real breeders who care about thier stock from the fly-by-nighters looking to cut any corners they can to save a buck ot two.

I happen to know a gentleman who in his field of captive breeding has been untouched he has bred more species and more animals of those species than anyone else in the World consistently since the early 90's. He also breeds his own mice and feeds his animals exclusively from the mice he breeds. Those mice are fed nothing but DOGFOOD. The mice are not gross, greasy, poor breeders or any other such nonsense. The animals he feeds those mice to are the best in the world. I don't know just leads me to think that feeding dogfood does not make a difference to the predator or prey.
