Feeding after brumation?

JasonW Jan 04, 2009 07:06 AM

Ok so this is the first year I brumated my snakes. The Pythons stayed awake but the King, Corn and Gophers went to bed. I woke them up early and tried to feed but the Kings refused. Is this normal "remember this is my first year brumating" Whats the normal time frame after waking up that they will take prey? I only brumated this year because my breeding's have been a failure the past 2 years and I never put them down for the winter so I figured I would try this year and see if it made a difference when breeding time came around. Thanks in advance.

Some snakes eat the day they are warmed up. Some snakes wait a week or so. All snakes are different. If you are using natural light cycles, the day lengths are very short right now and many snakes think they should be hibernating, rather than eating.
