Mini Fridge Concerns.....

JbuggFL Jan 04, 2009 11:17 AM

Ok after reading the post below.. Im sure that a mini fridge is one of the most common homemade incubators.. Im useing a brand new UTH on the bottom of the fridge hooked to a helix.. My concern now is will it need a fan ? I have had it running for about a month not knowing when the eggs would come and its holding temp fine.. I know when the eggs come I will be checking on them daily is that enough air circulation?
Thanks again in advanced..

a fan is recommended but not necessary. it just helps circulate the air that is within the incubator.

i have have a pulse t-stat that runs the heater and three extra temp/humidity gauges.......two inside......one on the top and on on the bottom and one outside on the glass door.

Are you talking about the bottom of the inside of the fridge or on the outside? If you're thinking of putting it on the outside my guess is that you wouldn't get enough heat on the inside of the fridge seeing how most of your minifridges have a fair amount of insulation. Just a thought. I'm using flexwatt for my set up. (Which I need to finish, both of my girls seem to be getting nice and fat!)

i have two temp/humidity gauges inside.........one towards the top of the incubator and one towards the bottom of the incubator..........then i have another one outside to tell me what the temp/humidity is in the room.
