heating a tub in a cold room

classdwhite Jan 04, 2009 12:08 PM

how would you guys guy about heating a tub in a room where the temps are commonly high60s- low 70s? A space heater is out b/c my dad wont allow one and they wont let me keep any snakes other than in my cold room. would running one piece of flexwatt all the way around one end of the tub (from one side, underneath, then up the other) at say low 90s, would that increase the cool side to the right temps? Or is there another way i could do this?

My herp room is in my basement and in the winter my temps run about 68-70 degrees. I have the Flexwatt under half the tub set at 95. The cool end stays in the high 70s that way.

You can try insulating the tub with some 1/4" or 3/8" pink foam insulation. I know some people use that on their racks to keep the temperatures even in a cooler room. But I keep my room around 65-70 degrees generally and my racks with 4" flexwatt running at 93 on the hot side keeps the cool side at around 75 degrees.
