queensny Jan 04, 2009 06:46 PM

hey everyone so i went to the vet today to take my blood python to see what was wrong with her eye. they cut the eye (where it was swollen) to drain all the pus and they said they saw an eye which was a good sign so they gave me eye drops for her, and in the mean time they are going back to the lab to examine exactly what it is so they can give me the proper treatment so lets hope its nothing to seriouss so far so good

by the way she was a very brave little girl and the vets loved her

I had a vet have to do that with a ball python about 6 years ago. I thought I was buying a CB female, but she was a wild-caught adult with an eye infection and mouth rot. The eye looked about the same as your blood's did and it did heal pretty quickly after being drained.

Glad to hear she was good. My boy proceeded to expel his stored up feces on the vet tech (they still are talking about the amount of the stool from him) as well as attempted to bite everyone that came into contact with him. The only one who thought it was adorable was the old zoo vet who loved the attempts to eat. They had problems bagging him and when they brought him to me, he instantly calmed down again. I do suspect the vet exam was a bit more rough than my gentle handling approach here.

Keep us updated on the vets diagnosis.

if the cornea is still intact. Hopefully everything will work out well. She is probably going to be in for a round of antibiotics. Thanks for the update,
