Carpet python lighting

mbm95 Jan 05, 2009 03:24 PM

I want a carpet python as my first snake. I want to keep him in my room. My room is in the basement, but the house slopes on a hill so it does have windows. The only problem is that the windows are under the back deck, and are facing south so it never gets direct sunlight. It is always pretty dark in there when the lights are off. So should I get a light for the cage to keep on when it is daytime? Thanks for your help.

Generally not necessary, but I have a window in my snake room that lets in lots of light.

99.99% of the day, all my carpets are in their hides anyway, and come out to play at night!
