Young BP Activity

danthebugman Jan 05, 2009 04:32 PM

I got a male Pastel BP a little while back. Beautiful little guy, eats like a champ and all that. However, lately (last 2-3 weeks maybe) it seems like he got into some caffine or something lol. He is almost constantly cruising his cage (Sterilite 1860 tub). I've checked and rechecked the temps/humidity thinking maybe he couldn't find a suitable spot, but everything seems fine there (high 90 in the hot spot, ~65% humidity) and he's got ample hides. My female has never been this active. She is more satisfied to sit in her hides all day or soaks in her dish after a meal.
Just variation in personality??

Thanks,
Dan

If all husbandry is in check (ruling out hunger and stress) could be wants to breed or just being overly curious. How old is the little fella?

His hatch date escapes my memory at the moment, but Novemberish 08 is a rough estimate. He got fed last night and seems to be a little calmer today. Still more active than my female ever was.

yes, individual juvenile personalities differ in this regard. all my sub adults and adults are mellow. all. but some percentage of juveniles really move about, and will move out of the rack, onto your hand, the shelf, etc, in a far shorter period of time and far less cautious manner than any adult.

of course this is more the case when a very full belly is not involved.

if given the chance, while still in the rack, a few babies also will bite on occasion, whereas adults do not.

youthful vigor, fear, and curiosity.
