Gravid Female - still

tsugeckogirl Jan 08, 2009 11:49 AM

So it has been 2 weeks and 5 days since I noticed my female getting a little pudgy around the middle and I placed nesting boxes. So I have been waiting - attempting to be patient - for the laying of the first group of eggs. I noticed yesterday that she is getting ready to shed. I know with some snakes right after the female sheds she is ready to breed or give birth or lay eggs. Is that the same in geckos? Or does anyone know?

Thanks for everyone's help and input!!!

A female, when she is about to lay her eggs, may stop eating a week to two weeks, before she is going to lay her eggs. I know it is hard waiting, but you still have some more time yet.

Usually, there first eggs ever, are non viable, it is like a practice run, so don't be surprized if they aren't viable.

Females will lay eggs, anywhere from four to six weeks. Since it is her first time, she may only lay one egg.

The baby, if egg is fertile, will not eat, until after it's first shed. If there is any yoke, left in the shells, leave it in with them, until it is dried up or gone.
