Wheezing no RI.

IluvDonuts Jan 08, 2009 04:10 PM

Hi, I have a 1.5yrd old 3ft Boa (Normal Red-Tail) and he has been wheezing for about 6 months now, I've taken him to the vet and there are no signs of RI other than the wheezing, it only happens on exhales and he doesn't do it unless I'm handling him or he's constricting something (ex. eating or climbing). Any suggestions?

Is it a true "wheezing" or is it just an audible noise when they breath. I had a friend take his boa to the vet. and he said that his boa had a deviated septum and would always breath with sort of a "whistle" sound and especially when being held. He thinks that it occured when his boa struck at the glass of the cage. Who knows though...

Think about it...

If someone were to pick you up, wouldn't you breath differently?

I don't think that every noise is an RI and although I say that I am a freak when it comes to mine as well... sounds to me like you are doing everything right so far though.

I had a similar diagnosis with a honduran milk. She has wheezed for years but eats great.
