Baconbits Sep 09, 2003 05:44 PM

Ok, while I was feeding my azurues I noticed that their middle toe on their rear legs were twitching... I mean bouncing up and down and alot! I haven't noticed this before. Is there something wrong?? Does this mean something? I've looked through the old posts and I couldn't find anything in regards to this. Any help that you could provided would be great!!!
Thanks alot
Jamie

Been discussed here and on frognet at length. Many theories, but noone seems to be sure why they do it. It's obviously related to feeding and hunting. Search Frognet for some of the toe twitching conversations!

hi,
My frogs do it all the time and i figure it has something to do with hunting for food. Maybe it scares up bugs or something.

Well, here's my theory for what it's worth (probably just about nothing). Darts will not eat anything that is not moving. The tapping is probably used to either coax insects into moving by scaring them or used as a lure.

exactly, i once read when any animal gets into "hunting mode" a chemical is released into there body forceing there bodies to do weird thing... this goes for humans too, we have adrenaline!
