2 pythons 1 cage

goodsmeagol Jan 08, 2009 08:21 PM

Hi there
I have 2 5-6month old pythons
and it looks like I am addding an adult sooner then I thought.
This guy was supsoed to hold it for a month until I get my new set of cages built, currently my 2 babies are in 2 cages, both relitevly big.
My new girl I want to quarentine, I do not really wanna spend the 200 it would cost to get a cage for just 1 month.

Can I put my 2 babies in the same cage for a few weeks?
I have had them both from the same breeder for about 3 months.

A new setup would be such a pain in the butt since I am having these customs made.

thanks

I would quarantine for at least a month. You can get tubs with lids for cheap at Target etc...

In my experience housing more then one ball in a cage can lead to eating issues and other problems. I would house separate if possible but if you can't, housing them together could be done, just not ideal.

As amcroyals stated, it can be done but it not ideal. For a short period of time they should be fine.

I wouldn't do it. That's how things like mites, parasites, and (God forbid) IBD spread. Not to mention the stress. Don't risk your good breeders for some new hatchlings, just spend the $40 on a plastic tub (target's snapware ones are good and tight) and heat mat or tape and set them up in another room.
