My very active baby balls

pidgejen Jan 10, 2009 11:17 AM

Hey Ya'll,

So I have a questions, I have my baby ball pythons in a 20 gal breeder tank. There hot spot/hid is at 90, and the ambien air temp on the other side is around 80. I am using cocunut husk as a substrate, which helps keep the humidity up at around 60%. They have both fed now on f/t and Prekilled mice. They both have shedded once as well and pooped.

Here is my questions, they are constantly trying to get out of their cage. They are always doing some type of acrobatic that leads their head up to the screen on top of the cage. They do this all day and night it seems. Are they just not getting enough airflow. Is their space too small (it's a 20gal breeder split down the middle). I was told and read that they do best in small spaces? I is it time to get them each their own 20gal? They are about 3 months old...

Take Care,

jen

That should be plenty of space for them. I keep my babies in a much smaller space and some of them are over 500g and still seem fine. Just a couple of questions to narrow it down. Do they ever stay on their hot spot for a couple of hours or more, or do they cruise all the time? Also, you mentioned what you are feeding them, but how often?

Possibly too hot/humid. I have noticed that often causes this kind of behavior in snakes.

Also, do you have enough hiding places? Or hiding places that are small enough for them to feel secure? It could be stress.
