I would say when you search for information, looking at more than one site for a broader view of information is a better thing. No one site has everything about every monitor. Some sites are better in one ways than another but lack something from it as well. I hope you understand my point. Its like doing a research in the library, you can't just go up to them and ask for one book about a subject and that single book has everything in it. There will be many books on each subject so the person can compare and contrast information for better understanding.
For a Nile Monitor, you should access this site:
http://aquasyst.rockin.net/nile.htm
Savanna Monitor:
http://www.angelfire.com/ns2/wiles_reptiles/savannacare.html
http://students.washington.edu/lwcamp/herps/savanna.html
http://www.oaklandzoo.org/atoz/azmonitor.html (White Throat)
Water Monitors:
http://www.reptilerescue.com/watermonitor.shtml
http://www.naturia.per.sg/buloh/verts/monitor_lizard.htm (Nice Pics)
There is another one but I can't find it.
Go to the library or ask a professional, thats the ez way.
Yes, your opinion is exact, but I live in Italy and here you can't keep monitors except if you haven't a special permission that is very difficult, but the things seems to change for small monitors, is difficult to find information, photo of the different monitors.
So I wonted a site to start with, information and care sheets, specially I’m looking for information on small monitors (something that doesn't grow more than 3 1/2ft) .
If I lived some where I could keep them without any problem I would start with ackie and after I would go on something bigger but the law here is very strange.
Most people won't really argue with the info on this site. It gives a lot of information on various monitors in the wild, which is what we are all trying to model our husbandry after. Good luck with your legal entanglements.
Cheers
Michael
