I am posting this here because I am asking this hide question specificly for leos. I want to replace the hides I have because they are so lightweight they wind up getting moved all around by the leos daily. They are about 6x5x2.5" from reptile basics. The problem is they get moved around too easily. I need 16 hides so I was looking online because 15 bucks a pop for ones at like petco is too much and I saw some from Vision that are pretty cheap they just have a minimum order amount requirement. Anywho the hides they have are one thats 6"x3"x2" and the other 7"x4.5"x3". I would think the smaller one would be ok but then I was thinking with the thickness of the walls it could be 1/4"-3/8" smaller size on the inside. I know they wont like it if its too big but im not sure if that smaller one would be too small for my adults width wise but the larger one is borderline im thinking on too big. What do you think? Anyone know some good hides where I could possible get them cheaper for bulk or something less expensive. I dont want to make ones out of diaposeable tupperware.

Need to find some that will be not too small, not too big but just right. Would preferr to not pay 15 bucks a piece but am open to suggestions.

Hi

At petsmart and petco, stores, they are among the most expensive places that I have found reptile hides.

I have always gone to like a mom and pop type store, and they are cheaper than those other stores.

The hides I get are the different colored stone ones that they have. I guarantee they won't move those.

If you can't find something inbetween in size, I would go with the bigger one, as is usually the case, you will find more than one gecko in the same hide. That is how it is with me.

Good Luck, TBL

Yeah even with the mom & pop stores around here its still like $10 a hide instead of $15 . I decided to try the vision hides because they are like $2-3 each. They weigh like 3.5oz so I think they are heavy enough. They are twice the weight of the old ones. Since I needed 24 $10 a pop was too much. I couldnt decide so I got 24 of the small and 24 of the mediums. Came in 2 days. The mediums are going to work out great for the adults. The smalls are too small though but they are so cheap I think I will keep them since I was going to let my leos breed eventualy and the small hides will be perfect for juvies. I have a younger guy that they will work for until he gets bigger. The small ones just arent big enough for the adults. Tight squeeze. I would suggest these for anyone needing multiple hides. Basicaly wholesale prices if you order $40 or more. I asked them and they said if your order doesnt get up to $40 to just call them and they will set me up. I dont know if they will do that if you just wanted 2 $2.00 hides though. Verry inexpensive. The RBI ones are good hides just too lightweight for me. The vision ones are a little heavier and textured to look like a rock cave while the RBI ones are just flat and black plastic.
