I've been thinking about herp literature a lot lately, and I'm curious as to what everyone here is reading with regards to magazines and journals. I'm currently getting Herpetological Review, Journal of Herpetology, REPTILES, and IGUANA. What's everyone else reading?
I know there's been lots of discussion (especially on other forums) regarding the "dumbing down" of REPTILES in recent years, so I'm not going to delve into that and will leave my thoughts out. On the other hand, IGUANA, the journal of the International Reptile Conservation Foundation, is a pretty stellar publication. It's articles are engaging and the photography is top-notch. The writings are far from "dumbed down", but aren't as technical as Herp Review and JH (also great publications, for my fellow bio-nuts out there) and don't require degrees in biology and ecology to read. In my opinion, they're perfect for the intelligent and well-read hobbyist.
I should probably state that I'm NOT being paid or bribed in any way by the IRCF to make this plug.
