Need opinions on this boa

morphevolutions Jan 12, 2009 07:07 PM

Hi everyone,

I've had this boa as a pet for several years now. She was purchased in 06 as a baby, and I'm just really curious to know what the experts think of her colors. I keep mainly pythons, so I'm pretty interested to hear what the boa world thinks.

She was purchased as a normal albino, but seems to have quite a bit of pink on her sides and face. She is about 5' right now and these photos were taken tonight.

Again, just looking for honest opinions on her colors, good or bad. She's just a pet and isn't going anywhere. Thanks for your help.

OMG! She is horrible looking! You dont need her contaminating all your other nice stuff, let me give you my address so I can rescue you of such an ugly albino.
If you cant look at that one yourself and know it is really a good looking albino, either A) you need glasses, or B) your color blind and the glasses arent going to do a thing....LOL! Just kidding.
She is beautiful! A very nice coral albino!

lol.. nice.

Thanks for the input. I like her, I think she's nice.. but I have heard varying thoughts on what makes a nice albino boa.

What exactly do you mean by coral albino? Is that different then an average albino?

Thanks again. Going to call the eye dr. now...

What is it that makes a Coral Albino such. It seems opinion alot of the time becuase I see them in all different arrays of colors.

How can you really tell? Is it just an albino with some pink?

Thanks,
Mike.

anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but a coral albino is a regular albino with quite a bit of pink. Some albino's can display this more as they age. It is a variable trait, meaning not attached to a specific gene. So Coral albinos' offspring may or may not display the same pink coloration.

That is one gorgeous high contrast and colorful Albino Boa.I looked and thought it was a Sunglow at first.
Normally you don't see Albino Boas of that size displaying the
saddle & tail color so nicely.
Just to ad a little to the Coral Albino explanation or exactly what the pretty Albino Boa in the picture is.
There is a great explanation in my opinion ,about the Coral Albino trait at Steve Reiners website.
My first thought was this appears to be a Pastel albino.
The Coral albino Boas and Pastel Albino Boas are very similar and colorful Albino Boas.
There maybe some differences that will be
addressed at some point.
They both display as very colorful Albino Boas. Some display color more laterally,
others only in the head or front third of the body.
Still others display color throughout the entire body.
It appears as though selective breeding results in these colorful Boas.

Thanks for that link.

So from what I understand, John, the first person to reply to the main post, could only be speculating at best that the boa pictured is a coral and not a colorful normal albino.

I guess the words proceed with caution are well needed here when dealing with purchases that are labeled coral.

Thanks,
Mike.

You cannot really call an Albino Boa a Coral unless you know its related to the Coral Line.
Any Colorful Albino Boa is a good thing, because color adds to color in the end.
Colorful Albino Boas are not really all that prevalent still.
So my point is that a Colorful Albino Boa may not be traceable to the Coral Line,
the Ronne Pastel Line(Pastel Dream) or Red Albino line.
This really may not matter if the price is right and color is what your after.
Your right though just because someone makes a claim doesn't necessarily make it true.
If you are specifically searching to purchase a true Coral Albino
you need to do your home work I guess so to speak.
Traceable lineage, pics of parents could help, reputable seller
would have this info, paper work etc...

That girl gets a 9/10!! She's gorgeous! Wonderful coral/pink coloring, that's a beautiful albino.

(she would have gotten a 10/10, but you haven't sent her to me yet! lol!)

Albinos like that are why are started keeping boas! Super clean and high contrast. I don't think it's a coral, just high colored and the reason for that is how clean it is! Gorgeous animal none the less!
