Infertile female?

brianlovescheese Jan 13, 2009 09:52 AM

I've got a female normal that I've seen lock-up with at least three different males over the last two years. Problem is, she has never been gravid...ever. I bought her from a guy that tried to breed her also with no luck. I just thought he didn't know what to do. I've tried everything I could think of. She is 2450 grams as of yesterday and I've owned her for at least 3 1/2 years. Any thoughts?

I have one like that as well -- breeds readily -- just never goes. On the upside since she hasn't had to go through the whole laying eggs thing she is a nice 3000ish grams now. Hoping she'll go this year but not holding my breath -- if she goes I expect at least three years worth of eggs from her .

HAHAHA! I got eleven eggs from this ones sister last year so I'm not really worried. Maybe one day it'll happen.

Its possible she's infertile.. did you ever see her ovulate or form follicles? And I am assuming she was double checked to make sure she is a she. A vet may be able to determine for certain if she is infertile.

Oh yeah she is a she. I always take my pets to the vet right after I get them to have them double checked (sexed) and to have a basic first report on them for my binder I keep. I might just carry her back and get his opinon.

I re sexed her myself and I still think she is a she, but I did make an appointment with the vet for 3pm today. The vet I use is the one that thought me to sex reptiles so I'm sure it's gonna be the same.
