Travis12321 Sep 09, 2003 07:18 PM

I have a problem. I changed out the sand on my beardeds cage a few days ago, the sand clean sand I put it was damp for day or a little more. Now my bearded sits around with its mouth open alot of the day. Could this have caused it? If so what can i do?
Thanks

Beardies GAPE (sit around with their mouth open) when they are to hot and trying to let some heat out. Sometimes they will sit under the basking lamp and gape because they are too lazy to move to the cool side. Sometimes the cool side is to hot. Sometimes it may be caused by a respiratory infection. If the cage temps are ok (hot side 110-120, cool side 80s) then you may want to see a vet to check for respiratory problems.
