lack of temp spread in a tub.....

BobS Jan 13, 2009 10:46 AM

I just went down to my cellar which has a temp of 64 degrees and mumidity 35% and measured the UNDERSIDE of my Sterlite #1754 (15qt) tubs in a standard AP rack and found 114 degrees above the cable and 70 degrees cool end. I use newspaper substrate. I have my Ranco set for 90 degrees to provide me with a hotspot I previously measured above the newspaper of 88 degrees which gives me 75 degree air temp. That quite a spread!

Sometimes I think the kid with two pet snakes has something that those of us with 50 to 200 lost a long time ago.

Bob, I assume that is belly heat? I am using back heat and had a great temp spread but the snakes cannot use the large spread at the hot end of my tubs without stacking, shelving of some sort.

Yup, Belly heat. The heat cable type.
