Using Heat Panels

JoBaggs Jan 13, 2009 11:41 AM

I'm thinking of having some cages custom built and am wondering if anyone has used Heat Panels in their cages. I did some searching and couldn't find a lot of discussion on this so I thought I'd throw it out for fodder on this forum.

The cages (if I have them built by Paul Edwards or Constrictors Northwest) would be either PVC or HDPE, ABS, expanded core, or foam core PVC.

I've always used bulbs but I'm considering new things because of the type of caging I'm perhaps going to use. I also had good luck with troughs, but want to try something new where I can monitor the monitors : ) more closely.

Thanks in advance.

Joe

I think you may find a hard time providing hot enough basking temps without overheating the rest of the enclosure. In other words I don't think you'll be able to provide the range of choices with a RHP as you can with good ol' flood lamps. I'd stick with what's proven to work.

I'd like to stay with bulbs, prefer them. Just wanted to see if anyone was using them, etc.

Thanks.
