Corn snake got lumps! Newbie

ladyvorlon Jan 14, 2009 10:07 AM

Steve,5 year old albino corn, came home from my cousin, has been with us for four weeks has had two feedings, and a shed, three days ago, then these lumps showed up, they feel like little balls and I am assuming they are an egg sack but there has been no breeding. So after hours of extensive sight viewing, and finding this site, I am here now...So please someone help explain this!! I know I am new to corn snakes!
THANK YOU!

where are the lumps exactly? There can be many causes of lumps in snakes. If it's visible from the exterior of the the snake then I'd GUESS it could be a fatty deposit but that would accumulate over time.

If it's inside the snake and appeared suddenly then two things come to mind -- it could be hard parts of its most recent feed. Sometimes I can feel the skull and other lumpy parts of the mouse inside my corn for a fair amount of time. If it's within an inch of the vent then I'd guess it's solidified uric acid (basically pee). Try bathing the snake in 80 degree water for half an hour and see if it passes if that's the case. I'm on the way out the door and will have to finish my thought's here later this evening.

Yeah, where are the lumps? How big? Do they feel smooth and oval or hard and blocky? If there is any visible sign of them, and you can post a photo (or email it to me), maybe we can get a better idea.

Ok, firstly I guess alot more information should have been given and for that I do apologize!
Steve is 4.5 feet long, and the lumps are round and marble size, you can feel and see a series of 5 on one side and the same on the other, not sure if completely roundish. They seem to be located about three inches from the vent.
Tried to take pictures but they do not show up in the pic.
Tried the soaking thing, didn't go over to well but got the belly in..for about a minute..LOL that was fun!
Although, the last feeding was a small rat, instead of a large mouse, more proteins, from my understanding! Which would make sense, from the one post!
Thanks again!
