dave, do you actually do anything at work?? Or just play with photobucket all day. Some nice pictures you get there. Find the hypos fascinating, and an interesting colour. I have seen pics of other peoples hypos, that look maybe more peachy? Yours look a lot like the father Dumbo already, even though i can see some are Mark's. Do the different lines look a lot different?
Also what kind of weight are fluffys babies now? it so hard to work out from pictures, can never work out how big some of your snakes are!!

cheers

Shhhh, not so loud, someone might hear you!!

Thanks, I do see a clear diff betwen Marks and Mine. Clearly hypo takes away the black leaving the other colors behind. Just like normals have a huge range, the hypos do as well.

Have not weighed them specifically but would guestimate at least 2.5x birth weight of 30ish grams or 75+ grams.

haha i cant talk either, ever since i got a phone with the internet on it, i seem to be on forums and checking emails every 10mins these days.

As for the different looking lines of the hypo, do you believe we should be crossing them to each other? or keep on outcrossing to normals, and keep the lines as seperate as possible, thus making it possible to be producing 2 different phases of the hypo?
Thus, when we start producing ghosts, is it possible to have different ghost looking lines, depending on the anery/hypo lines that have gone into them?? get what i mean?

saw i post i think on the boa forum, someone was talking about rosy boas. Think they were showing that different lines of anerythristic animals, we producing completely different looking versions of the snow morph

thoughts?

Well, IMO there are not so much different "lines" of Hypos' just hypos with different "other" genes that show a range of colors. My ultimate gola is to refine the trait while outcrossing for stronger animals. And by refining, I loke color so more colorful hypos whouldbe one ultimate goal. Anothe3r gola would be lighter and lighter animals as well.

If the hypo gene itself is compatible between "lines" then there's no difference between them from a hypo standpoint. Otehr species have multiple unrelated genes that produce similar results while not within the same locus. BCI Sharp vs Kahl albino for example. Both are albino's yet are not compatible with each other.

Danne Jan 14, 2009 06:15 PM

I really like Belle, sorta reminds me of an adult female you have I'm really loving the eclipse-phase, it's cool to see how variable they are in color and crescent size even in the same litter! I'd say that it stinks that the phases aren't so dependable, but where would the fun be in that!? Nice bunch as always, Dave.

Yeah, Belle and Daisey are half sisters. While I am a sucker for an awesome crescent, the Eclipse's are cool in how different they are.

IMO in time with selective breeding the phases can become more reliable. I don't think much has been done breeding two of the same phase together. Think of it this way, Savannah is the mom of two very clean Eclipses along with a handful of not as clean ones. Savannah, while not having thick crescents, is not an eclipse herself. What would happen if two clean eclipses were bred together? Or even one of the clean ones, what will it produce? I always say the babies colors are clustered around the parents, why not the pattens as well?
