Building a incubator out of a mini fridge.. I am able to fit on shelfs inside of the fridge 3- 16qt sterilite tubs and 2- 6qt tubs with tops. Im useing 1ft of 11inch flexwatt on a Helix. I installed the flexwatt on the lower front panel of the door.. Then pulled the cord threw the seal of the door to the thermostat.. There was 2 small holes in the top back of the fridge wall one where a hi med low knob was and another where the cold pipe went to the compressor from.. I put the probe from the thermostat threw the bigger top hole about 3inchs from the top of fridge and taped it to the back wall level. Then sealed that hole with tape and left the other smaller hole thats about 6 inchs below the probe center of the back of the fridge about wide enough to put a pencil threw open.. Ok now that I have described my setup... My questions are...
1. With the flex watt strip mounted on the front bottom panel of the swing open door is the probe in a proper position?????
Taped to the back of the fridge almost on the top?? My figure for a gradient is the flexwatt being on the front bottom of door around the seals includeing where the cord makes a small gap in the door seal will allow some air flow. And the small hole 6inchs below the probe on the back wall of mini fridge being open will give me enough airflow since heat rises??????
2. Is about how many eggs do you think you could keep in a 16qt sterilite tub?? I plan on useing vermiculite properly mixed with a plastic wrap over the top.. and toward the end of the incubation period a plastic sterilite top ontop on the plastic wrap.
If you feel like Im doing something wrong or just have a opinion on another way to try let me know.. My biggest concern is getting my incubator set up for success.. I have it on now letting it heat up to see how it holds the temps..
Thanks in advance..
