Not the same, Sugar's originated in Europe, they do not have the same pattern at all, most Sugar's have the black back pattern while Calico's have the classic pattern with a variation in the % of white from a few specks of white to very high white animals.

It depends on what you consider different. They are different lines of the morph that were bred for different attributes. They are as different as lessers and butters are. Same mutation just different line bred for different things. Think bell pastel and grazianni pastel. Come to think about it, there are tons of morphs now-a-days that are just different lines of already proved out morphs and people's egos got in the way so now we have hundreds of morph names for the same morph.

Different....lines....same/different. Are sugar and calico compatible? Not compatible would be different gene, compatible would be lines or allelic?

I have noticed a fairly big price difference between sugars and calicos. I am glad this thread started, because I am interested in adding one to my collection in '09 or '10.

Thanks in advance.

BTW- those sugars posted are SWEET! Pun intended
