a few friends and i went to the beach the other day to go diving. after a few hours i noticed a line of floaters on top the water about 50 yards away. so i figured somebody layd a net so i should stay away from there. then i noticed thst the middle floats were bobbing pretty heavy. so my friends and i swam over. we found a young green sea turtle tangled in the net. it didnt look like it was there for long but we knew that we had to get her out. it was a good thing she wasnt very heavy or it woul have been alot harder.it took us a few minutes but we did it. at the end of the day evry1 was happy. we released the honu, we caught us some dinner, even the fisherman whos net got messed up by us was happy, because he caught some monster fish in his net and no bycatch....... just thought i'd share my story w/other turtle lovers.

That's very cool. I love green sea turtles, well ALL sea turtles for that matter. When my wife and I went to Maui for our honeymoon we swam with a green sea turtle for about an hour in a little cove filled with parrotfish. Everytime I dove to try to touch him (I know illegal, so sue me) he would put one flipper down a just a tad harder and jet away. It was incredible. I think I pet him once. I was afraid we might prevent him from going up for air at first, but he didn't seemed bothered at all by us and enjoyed are exhausting swim around the cove.

its amazing how graceful they are huh? theres this place near where i live (on da BIG BIG ISLAND!!) that the turtles will swim right up to you and when theyre resting on the bottom you could even go down touch em, chill w/em 4 a while, i have no idea y theyre so tame there, but i love it. it sounds a little "unreal" so the next tym i go il try to bring a waterproof camera.
