Eggs are here! And a few questions

ody Sep 09, 2003 09:23 PM

Well, my younger (as in younger then the other one, she is 1.5 years old) female finally laid some eggs tonight (25 healthy pink looking ones actually ). Got them all in the hovabator and dialed in at about 83-84.

One question though. How long does it usually take before the female will start eating? She finished laying/burrying at about 7:30PM EST, I took her out of the box, gave her a warm bath to wash her off (which she appeared to HATE), and put her back in her normal tank (which I took the male out of now). She ate 1 superworm out of my hand, and maybe 1 or 2 crickets tonight, and that's it. I went and picked up some pinkies (really small frozen ones) and thawed them out, but she would have none of it. I would have got live ones, but the pet store didn't have any live ones. That didn't suprise me a ton though, since my dragons have never liked eating dead stuff. Now she's just sitting in the corner of her tank. She was running around it earlier for a little while. It's almost time for lights out now, but I was just curious if she should have ate more tonight, or if maybe she'll get her appetite back tomorrow. Just want to be sure I'm doing it right.

Thanks!

She appears to be quite hungry today, but she won't eat more then a couple crickets. However, she appears to be eating as many superworms as I'll give her (and she seems to be enjoying them too). Not quite sure what's up with that. If anybody has some advice I'd appreciate it.

Try giving her a warm bath, let hr soak for about 10 mins, then get warmed up, and offer her some greens,,does she eat greens? I noticed you didn't say anything about trying them, so I didn't know..Mine ate right after she laid, I let her hide her eggs good, then before I took them out I took her out so it wouldn't upset her, bathed her, put her back in her home, with a fresh bowl of salad, and she dug right into it,,hope that works, she needs to eat a lot right now,, congrats. on your eggs!!

She's eating now, but still not a lot. I have a salad in there all the time, but she isn't eating any of it yet. I put between 1-2 dozen crix in there today, and between her and the other female (who is starting to go into brumation) they finally ate them all. She also ate about 5 supers today out of my hand. That's all she ate today though, and that's all she's eaten since she laid her eggs last night. Last night she wouldn't drink any water, but today she drank quite a bit out of the spray bottle. The thing is, she is by no means skinny or sick looking. She actually looks quite healthy.

Not sure if I should be worrying or not here. She's not eating a ton, but she doesn't look bad either. I thought after laying eggs females ate quite a bit? Argh!
