Has anyone produced a caramel spider yet

SimplyRed Jan 17, 2009 08:36 AM

Been away for a long time and I knew a year or so ago some spider het caramels were being sold. Has anyone successfully produced this combo and if so, pics?? Thanks!

I dont think it has been done yet. Cv exotics might produce one in 2 months(i think he has a small clutch of caramel to spyder het caramel). I missed two years ago but have 5 female het caramels(proven) dedicated to this project. I dont know who else is trying for a caramel spyder? seems like it will be a worthwhile project.

I heard that Brian from BHB produce several in 07. "But nothing that will be visible". We are hoping to hit on this combo this year. We have a 06 female Spider 100% het CA that is being bred by our Caramel male. Both are Nerd line from Scott at CV Exotics. If we get eggs and hit the odds I will post pics of the animal regardless of kinking or spin/wobble. Fingers crossed. Jeff

You have some awesome animals. I put my Caramel female to my Crystal Mojave instead of the Spyder het caramel male. but i have 5 het proven girls for him. Also, 3 of the girls were bred by him 2 years ago and no kinked caramels(fingers crossed). Good luck on your upcoming year!!!!

there is one out there. it's kinked and twirls. it took the best of both morphs, lol. it's a nice looking animal but not something I would pursue for the obvious reasons.

josh,

who produced it? do you know what line of caramel it is? just curious. I expect any spider combo to have the potential for the "wobble". But i think the kinking has more to do with the line of caramel than anything. thanks

I'm not at liberty to say but it was produced from very outcrossed spider het nerd caramel x malsin/bhb female if my memory severs me correct.

...with much of the kinking. I am breeding for some codom hets using my Malsin male. I have heard from multiple sources that Malsins rarely kink when line bred. I trust the sources enough keep any offspring pure. I am working with some Nerd and SK lines as well. We will see how it goes.

I have 2 spider 100% het caramel males breeding a dozen 100% and 50% possible het caramels, so I have a pretty good chance to produce caramel spiders. I'll post pics if/when I have them.

Thanks,
