Sonoran lyres from the Santa Ritas (pics)

Terry Cox Sep 09, 2003 09:48 PM

When I was in AZ this summer I had good luck with the lyres up in the Santa Rita Mtns. I found three altogether. Here's some pics of them...

Lyres are one of my favorite desert/montane snakes. This one was at about 6,000 ft, and when I got out of my car it went straight up a cliff wall...

That's all for now...

What time of the day/night did you find them and were you on foot or riding along in your automobile?

Yeah, they were all seen while cruising. Two were bt. 9 and 9:30 pm, and one around 11 on a different night. I had been to dinner with friends and decided to go for a drive later. Also got a mtn. king around 11:30 pm.
