I would say that your new lighting was worth every penny. Those are some awesome shots. Beautiful snakes also. Jeff

morphevolutions Jan 19, 2009 01:54 PM

Thanks.. not sure what you mean about the lighting though?

Just a brain fart. The lighting in those shoots is tremendous. What type of set up are you using? Soft box or light tent? Lighting is the key to great photography. Jeff

BrandonSander Jan 21, 2009 01:10 PM

I have to agree with Jeff, those are some of the best macro shots I've seen posted. Period.

I'm also interested in what type of set up you are using (lighting, light box, camera make and model, etc. ?)

Wow! You are definitely giving M.E. a run for his money! Great pictures... I'll ask you what I asked him - what type of camera set up are you using? Are you using any color correction or lighting correction software? I know some people frown upon touching up a photo with things like PhotoShop but I see nothing wrong if it is utilized to correct color, lighting or focus and is not used to distort the actual image (except for fun, non-commercial purposes).

morphed Jan 21, 2009 05:39 PM

Thank you very much I shoot with a Canon D10 SLR, I use either a macro lens or a 55-200mm. The lighting varied in the photos, some were outside light, some were just room light and a few were taken inside an EZ light cube. As for correcting the only thing I do is sharpen the images sometimes, even at that it is only minamal and I think only 1 or 2 photos in the lineup have been touched. I generally like to take them from the camera to the computer and not have to touch them Lighting really helps, if the picture is setup properly and the camera is used well you have to do less editing in the long run. Thank you again for your kind words
