orie69 Jan 19, 2009 07:39 AM

i have a 14ft retic male.He has eaten in 7 months.temps and humidity are good.I recently took him to a vet told him what was going on.HE took labs. After two days waiting for the results he said that everything came back normal. He said his sugar was a little low but normal for not eating for such a long period.I'm just posting to see what you guys think is happening with him.Besides this he's doing good.

Some of my males do the same this time of year. Their mind is set on other things (breeding). My best guess is try feeding him right after his next shed. My male Jampea just went back on food after 6 months and right after a shed. The same held true for my male tiger. In my opinion there is nothing to worry about. He will go back on food when he feels the time is right.

alot of people dont realize or think that males that are old and big enough to breed will go off feed, like the females do. quite a few males do go off feed for a couple, up to, several months during the colder season. as long as he looks good and seems alert and active, and has overall good body appearence, i wouldnt worry, he will feed when he is ready and hungry
