Anyone care to explain the Lucy gene in southerns for me?

I do know this, When the proper colored color chromasome was injected into the scale of an albino snake, that specific scale accepted the proper color but when tried on a leucistic specimen the proper color was rejected and the scale remained white. As far as I know science still can't fully explain the leucistics.
